THE WORK

ChemPartner is biotech CRO (contract research organization), which means that it partners with pharmaceutical companies of all sizes to do the actual science that drives in healthcare. You might think of them as the “ghostwriters” of the pharmaceutical industry. ChemPartner is a midsize CRO with a reputation for building strong relationships with their clients: fulfilling an important niche in the market for a CRO with the facilities, capabilities, and expertise to match any of their larger competitors, but with the agility and warmth of a smaller firm.

They approached us to re-do their brand and website, which was cogently described by one ChemPartner stakeholder as looking “as if his grandmother designed it.” We interviewed their team, their clients, and industry experts to understand the stakes of pharmaceutical R&D, and what it is it that prospective clients need to see to in order to build trust in what is, ultimately, a process heavy on risk and reward.

The motif we developed was the modularity of the molecule. That ChemPartner combines the stability of a bonded molecule with the flexibility of new teams, new ways of working, new modalities, and new breakthroughs.

The brand comes with a new color scheme, an adjustable dot visual system, and a brand tone of voice that stresses innovation, partnership, and the strategic advantage of ChemPartner’s size and infrastructure.

ChemPartner was able to launch the new brand and new website, which includes a new AI search engine, helping users navigate the complexity of the company’s offers.

It was a fantastic project that mixed brand strategy, copywriting, UX design, video, and a new graphics system. But I am happy I no longer need to spell “pharmacokinetics” again.
